Training Course: Working With Depression

This practical session will be delivered by support workers, with counselling skills and many years experience of working with people suffering from depression.

It will cover the following topics:-

Develop your understanding of depression and the various symptoms presented both in its wider meaning and in the diagnosis of depression.

• Look at various theoretical models including CBT in relation to depression.
• Explore the development roots contributing to depression.
• Develop ways of working with clients to help them understand their depression.
• Explore your own and others' experiences of depression as a way of increasing your empathy and ability to be therapeutically present with clients.
• Increase your strategies for self-care and support.

This workshop is suitable for counsellors, therapists and other helping professionals who work with clients suffering from depression.

Dates: Wednesday 15th July 2009 OR Wednesday 21st October 2009

Time: 10.00am - 4.00pm

Fees: £70.00 per person or £50.00 per person for voluntary and community sector organisations.

Price includes training pack, lunch and refreshments included. Bookings to be made at least 1 week prior to course date. Booked places must be paid for unless cancellation is notified in writing one week before the course takes place. If you cancel at short notice for reasons out of your control, work colleagues can take your place.
